¿Porque un Calendario de Adviento? |  Why an advent calendar?

Cuando abrí mi calendario de adviento de té Kusmi el año pasado, se me ocurrió una idea:
“sería increíble abrir un calendario de lanas el próximo año que sea hermoso y útil para los tejedores a nivel local y nacional”.
Entonces el universo confabuló conmigo, mis padres estaban en Chile, muy cerca de la sede de #Bagualwool.
Trabajé con Katty todo el tiempo, ella tiñió a mano cada ovillo, siguió una paleta y el tema "Berry Christmas".

Llas lanas de Bagual provienen de fuentes sostenibles, prácticas conscientes y conciencia ambiental.
Estoy eternamente agradecida con ellos, con la comunidad tejedora y con quienes hicieron posible que hoy puedas disfrutar de esta idea nacida de un pensamiento espontáneo.

As I opened my Kusmi tea advent calendar last year a thought came to my mind,
“it would be amazing to open a yarn advent next year that is beautiful and useful for knitters locally and nationwide”.
Then the universe confabulated with me, my parents were in Chile, very close to the #Bagualwool headquarters.
I worked with Katty all along the way, she hand dyed every single skein, she followed a palette and the theme “Berry Christmas”

Bagual wools are coming from sustainable sources, conscious practices and environmental awareness. I’m forever grateful to them, to the knitting community and to those who made possible that today you can enjoy this idea born on a whim.

Elephant - our E of the month

Did you know that...  There are three different species of elephant – the African Savannah elephant, the African Forest elephant and the Asian elephant. Elephants are known for their large ears, tusks made of ivory and their trunks – which are actually a fusion of their nose and upper lip. But my Elephant  came from a pattern in Etsy named ELA . I found her casually, I was looking for something to write about for July in our BacktoBlogger post and through my list of possibilities I found Elephant and started my search for something with them but after a whole day, I got nothing. So since the internet works with algorithms, my phone had the trace about elephants and my Instagram sent me a nice knitted picture of the above pattern and the rest is history. I modified the dress a bit to have a little of lace, see below diagram in case you want to copy my idea. Gelatine with evaporated milk - Bavoroise

One of the dessert that never fail in a birthday party, specially among kids is a dessert with gelatine. In Chile we have a very well known one called Bavoroise. Fluffy, light and very tasty. RECIPE  1 can of evaporated milk chilled 2 cups of gelatine, prepared as package instructions ( I usually make it with half of the water requested) 1 cup of heavy cream/whipped cream (optional) 1 cup of strawberries or any berry available (optional) Whip the evaporated cold milk with a kitchenaid mixer until it has double the amount, becoming very fluffy and thick.   Add whipped cream if you are adding this ingredient.   Once mixed and all becomes whipped and fluffier, add prepared gelatine, mixing well with a mixer.    With a wooden spoon or a spatula mix in the berries if you are adding this ingredients and set it in individual glass molds.   Let it rest in the fridge for al least 4 hrs but overnight is better. Garnish with berries or even mint leaves for a pretty display

D for designer

I was really nervous about this month's entry, not because there is nothing to talk about but because I personally did not have anything in mind until I was in front of a pattern designer while visiting Chile. While in Chile I used my personal instagram to post pictures of my travels, a designer that I have worked with, contacted me when she figured out we were in the same continent and country.  She wanted to meet me in person as many of us in this circle have only met virtually. Estaba algo nerviosa por la entrada de este mes, no porque no haya nada de qué hablar, sino porque personalmente no tenía nada en mente hasta que estuve frente a una diseñadora de patrones mientras visitaba Chile. Estando de vacaciones, utilicé mi instagram personal para publicar algunas fotos de mi viaje, por ende ella  me contactó cuando descubrió que estábamos en el mismo continente y país.  Quería reunirse conmigo en persona, ya que muchos de nosotros en este círculo, solo nos hemos reunido vir
